So yeah, since my last entry, I got into an art course....OK, it's not exactly college, but I doodle all day, do a bum's amount of work, blow things out of proportion, procrastinate much more and hardly improve in what they're studying. Well actually, that's not true. In the 4 weeks I've been going there, I haven't drawn one remotely anime looking warrior! I KNOW! Well I always knew that'd happen and I'm glad it did. It's not that I'm tired of manga/anime things, it's just that I'm severely lacking in skills for anything else. For example, I cannot paint for shit and I fucking hate it still. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have found something I like about that.

Anyway, the break-up of the courses goes like this:

-Graphic Design: Learning basic, simplistic shapes and flat colours that are effective for things like advertising. I like this for the most part, but having to come up with 40+ drawn ideas on one subject is a real pain sometimes. Depends on the subject....or my mood.

-Photography: Haven't done much other than theory so far, but I know I'm going to like this. Why? Because I only have to think of what I want and try to capture it in a picture instead of sitting around all night placing too much priority on smooth inky lines.

-Painting: My mortal enemy. Now,, mixing and all that is totally fine, but fuck me! Brushes just hate me. They just flake or bend into awkward directions when I least want them to. I used to love painting Warhammer because of how precise I could be with it all, but full paintings kill me.

-Image processing: AKA Photoshop class. Here's where I learn to do something other than just use the brush and pencil tools. It's been pretty good so far. Just learned levels and curves (something I would never have had the patience to look at the manual for myself) and cropping/resizing for prints.

-Communications: AKA Basic English and Common Sense Class Where the Teacher is Too Vacant to Realize She Doesn't Need to Talk to Us Like We're Fiver Years Old.....fuck that class.....seriously


I'm probably forgetting some (or just bored of typing) but despite all the bitching I could do, I fucking love it. I hope it helps me improve my own personal stuff to a noticeable level.
